My Grandpa's Obituary

Dave Lilly, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on April 8, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his second wife, Shirley Scott Lilly, his children Kathleen Williams (Ed), David (Laurie) and Stuart (Janet) Lilly; his stepchildren Lauren and Joe Scott; his grandchildren Melanie (Eric) Johnson, David Lilly, Jenna and Beth Lilly; his great-granddaughter, Megan Johnson, and his sister Luella J. Lilly. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Kathleen Ann Lilly, who died in 1990 and his eldest sister Darlene Lilly Eve.
Dave was born in Portland, Oregon on May 31, 1931 to David H. Lilly and Edith C. Coleman. He grew up in Newberg, Oregon where he graduated from Newberg Union High School. He joined the United States Navy and served our country for 28 years in a variety of assignments in the U.S. and overseas. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington, followed by his Master’s degree in Acoustical Engineering at The Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Ca. In 1973, Dave had the honor of swearing his son David into the U.S. Navy. Dave obtained the rank of Lieutenant Commander and was placed on the Commander’s list (a rare accomplishment for an enlisted man) before retiring from the Navy. He then worked for King County Metro as a Vehicle Maintenance Manager for 19 years for the Eastside fleet of buses. Dave then enjoyed his third career as a Real Estate Agent with John L. Scott Realty until his illness forced him to retire.
Throughout his life, Dave enjoyed a passion for music. He was proud to sing in the Bass Section of the Seattle Choral Company for 15 years with his wife Shirley singing in the Alto Section. He proudly served as a member of the Choral Company Board for six years. Previously he was a director/conductor from 1983-86 for the Seattle Scottish Singers, from 1974-76 a member of a barbershop quartet in Guam and a member of various church choirs.
He loved the sea and shared his passion for sailing with his son Stuart.
His family and friends will deeply miss his joyful and generous spirit.

Greger's Chinese New Year Party
Wiktor and ?...she was really nice, can't remember her name. However, I do remember her and her husband love Dexter and California cation.
We don't have a picture of it but one of my favorite moments of the night is when Moosey smacked Megan on the butt twice and then with a smile, told her "I'm not afraid of you!". It was funny, Moosey is 5 years old and about a foot shorter than Megan.
There are more pictures but they are banned from the Internet!
Thank You, Amy and Wiktor for throwing such a great party!
